 Frankly, the master builders, whose skills were honed in another age, don’t exist anymore. Would it be possible to build a “new” King Eddy from scratch today? Highly unlikely. But then it is not
necessary—because over the decades the hotel’s various owners have kept the hotel in extremely good nick. For now, and forever, the King Edward will remain a palace
worthy of its regal namesake. Unlike almost any other precinct of the city, the area around the hotel is in many ways much like it was a hundred years ago.
